Gunster Bolsters International, Corporate and Real Estate Practices with Addition of Maria Alejandra Acevedo

MIAMI (Aug. 21, 2015) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full service business law firms, has added Maria Alejandra Acevedo as a shareholder in the firm’s Miami office, bringing greater depth and experience to its international, corporate and real estate practices.

A trilingual Wall Street trained attorney, Acevedo represents a wide variety of domestic and international companies regarding their U.S. and multi-national business law matters, with a particular emphasis on the Caribbean and Latin America. She frequently handles cross-border matters conducted and documented solely in Spanish and advises clients on asset and equity acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, joint venture, corporate governance and capital formation and reorganization.

"Acevedo is a seasoned attorney with an acute understanding of the needs of domestic and international clients which will bolster Gunster’s corporate and international practice,” said Bill Perry, managing shareholder of Gunster. “Her expertise is invaluable to our growth in this vital area of business.”

Acevedo has worked with clients from a diverse range of industries in domestic and international market segments, from entrepreneurs and fast-growing companies to families and corporate clients operating through foreign entities. She works with media, entertainment and technology sector clients on the purchase, transfer, licensing and protection of trademarks, copyrights and domain names. Additionally, she has experience in the hospitality sector representing real estate investors in connection with the purchases and sales of commercial realty and with private equity funds for hospitality projects throughout Latin America.

Acevedo is graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was the recipient of a Human Rights Fellowship.
